Research

First Stage went through rigorous research throughout the entire creative process which includes various case studies; delving into the history of traveling theatres, theatre inspired structures along with like minded spaces with the intentions of enhancing mental wellbeing.

Thinking about the link between design and mental health while writing my dissertation - ‘Theatron Animus; How Can Set Design Psychologically Impact the Human Element?’ - led me to think about how we can design for mental wellbeing.

Questioning this link prompted me to focus on mental health challenges in an introspective manner. Researching within the context of Dundee revealed concerning information.

SITE WALK

As this is a mobile structure, I gathered inspiration from elements of Dundee's Architectural Forms

Digital Collage – Grey & Colour.

Architectural and Theatre elements brought together showing mental health space. Two main spaces; one for group discussion and the other for solitary contemplation & reflection.

THE FACTS

During this dissertation I began to think about how we can design for mental health in an introspective manner when considering mental health challenges.
Researching these challenges within the setting of Dundee revealed concerning information which needs to be taken into serious consideration.
